There’s no season quite like fall, particularly when it comes to footwear, as we’re granted the pleasure to wear once again our field boots adorned with robust rubber soles, chunky brogues, and waxed leathers, all of which exhibit unwavering durability — a must-have for braving cold, wet winter days.
This season at The Hand, we have a comprehensive collection of shoes and boots, and perhaps from none more so than Edward Green. The Ambleside, a jumper boot with speed hooks made from a rough-and-ready, water-repellent waxed suede, is a highlight. However, you can never overlook the derby-style Windermere with the rarely seen notched welt, which is proving to be very popular, and the iconic Galway field boot, with several unique styles in beautifully textured leathers available.
In keeping with the field boot theme, Gaziano & Girling’s Urban Commando boot is something to behold. As sharp as it gets, it can handle all terrain from the city to the country, and the English Grain leather iteration in black is a new style for us this season.
Elsewhere, we also have winter-conquering styles from Norman Vilalta, including a new expression of its Robert Chukka in a versatile dark chocolate-grained leather finished with extremely lightweight Vibram soles. For a more elegant look, Baudoin & Lange’s Ginko loafer, crafted from soft deerskin leather with rubber soles, is just the ticket.
If you’re in the market for a handcrafted chukka or derby, be sure to explore the latest offerings from Stefano Bemer, Maison Corthay and Saint Crispin’s, the latter of which has a fantastic MTO programme, allowing you to commission a completely custom, handmade shoe or boot that will be delivered in eight weeks.
Winter has never looked so good!
