The Edward Green Barton Returns – Exclusively for The Hand
There are shoes you own, and there are shoes that define your collection.
The Barton is one of the latter.
A loafer once produced by Edward Green decades ago, the Barton has been revived from the archives at the request of The Hand to mark our seven-year collaboration. Dennis, co-founder of The Hand, immediately recognised the potential of this exquisite model for our clientele—gentlemen who seek footwear that stands out in craftsmanship and style, yet remains understated.
Its timeless elegance lies in the full saddle strap, a design that speaks of refinement without excess. Its craftsmanship is evident in the hand-stitched apron and split toe—details that discerning clients will recognise from Edward Green icons such as the Dover and Cranleigh. True to The Hand’s style, the Barton offers a subtly more casual interpretation of a classic, making it the perfect choice for modern versatility.
In keeping with the bespoke spirit of this release, clients can choose the Barton in either lined or unlined construction, tailoring the feel and fit to their preference.

Seven Years of Mastery: Edward Green x The Hand
For over a century, Edward Green has set the standard for British shoemaking—celebrated for its artisanal methods, choice of materials, and enduring style. Since The Hand opened in 2018, Edward Green has been part of our core collection, shaping our identity as the leading destination for the world’s finest men’s shoes.
Over these years, our collaboration has produced several exclusive models and group-made-to-orders, including the Oyster Suede Belgravia and distinctive variations of the Halifax and Montpellier—some of which earned a permanent place in our core line-up. The Galway in Rosewood Country Calf on the 202 last is perhaps the best-known: first introduced in our opening collection, it remains a bestseller to this day.
This partnership thrives on shared values: a dedication to tradition, meticulous detail, and quality without compromise.
Dennis, co-founder of The Hand, reflects:
“Edward Green was in our minds from the day we opened The Hand. Their craftsmanship is unmatched, their designs timeless, and their shoes resonate deeply with our clients—gentlemen who understand that true luxury is made slowly, and with care.”
Anthony Bunn of Edward Green adds:
“For seven years, The Hand has been a natural home for Edward Green—sharing our commitment to craftsmanship, timeless style, and uncompromising quality. Together, we’ve built our collaboration on mutual respect and shared ideals.”
The Barton – A Testament to Our Collaboration
The Barton is not a new idea—it’s a heritage design, brought back to life exclusively for The Hand. This revival honours Edward Green’s archive while tailoring it for today’s gentleman.
Crafted in a numbered, limited run of just 20 pairs, each pair individually numbered, the Barton carries the hallmarks of true artisanal shoemaking. The defining feature—the hand-sewn apron—is executed by Nathan Peach or his father Andy, two of Edward Green’s most celebrated craftsmen. Many of our clients will know Nathan personally from his visits to Amsterdam, where he has demonstrated his skill in person.

Anthony’s Barton – Mink Suede
In Mink Suede, the Barton blends refined styling with casual sophistication. The warm, earthy tone adds depth to any outfit, pairing effortlessly with relaxed tailoring or smart-casual wear. Its velvety texture enhances the loafer’s understated elegance, making it a versatile investment piece for the discerning wardrobe.
Dennis’s Barton – Redwood Antique
In Redwood Antique calf, the Barton reveals a different character. This mid-brown hue accentuates the shoe’s pattern and showcases its hand-stitched details beautifully. The deep, burnished patina gives it a richness that complements navy, grey, and earthy tailoring alike—an investment piece that will only become more distinguished with age.

A Celebration of Exclusivity
With only twenty individually numbered pairs available worldwide, each Barton is a personal statement. Every step of its creation—from leather selection to final polish—reflects the precision, artistry, and commitment that define both Edward Green and The Hand.
This is more than footwear. It is a piece of living heritage, a marker of taste and discernment, and a testament to the belief that true luxury is crafted slowly, by human hands.
Marking Seven Years – And Looking Ahead
Seven years on, our collaboration with Edward Green remains a standard-bearer for what is possible when two houses share an unshakable devotion to craft. The Barton stands as both a celebration of our past and a glimpse into our future—a future where heritage and innovation continue to walk hand in hand.
Gentlemen of distinction, the Barton awaits. Will you secure your piece of this rare legacy before it is gone?
