Our New Home

The last few weeks have been extremely busy for all of The Hand team. After all, moving shop is no walk in the park! But, we’ve done it, and we now have a new home which we’re going to tell you about.

We’re proud to be the latest addition to the prestigious Van Baerle Shopping Gallery, an exclusive and curated assortment of luxury boutique shops inside the Conservatorium hotel. For those who don’t know the Conservatorium hotel, it’s one of a handful of 5* hotels owned by the Set Collection (other hotels include; London’s Hotel Café Royal, Paris’ Lutetia, Beijing’s The Opposite House, and more), which has, in recent years, garnered a deserved reputation for establishing the finest hotels in the world.

The Conservatorium is an impressively sleek and contemporary hotel that artfully blends modern design with a traditional 19th-century building exterior (the hotel used to be a bank in its former years), and this juxtaposition of old-new we feel is perfectly aligned with our ethos of curating a collection of classic shoes for the modern man. In total, there are 129 rooms split across eight floors, and culinary delights are readily available via the Brasserie & Lounge and the Asian-inspired restaurant Taiko. Meanwhile, the hotel also offers quick access to the heart of Amsterdam’s famous fashion and museum district. General Manager Roy Tomassen says: "We are honoured and very excited to welcome this luxury men’s shoes brand to our in-house Van Baerle Shopping Gallery. The Hand is an excellent match and we are looking forward to see new guests enjoying the best shopping experience, under the roof of the Conservatorium hotel."

The Van Baerle Shopping Gallery is perhaps one of the hotel’s greatest attractions (head to the hotel’s website to discover who our neighbours are), which is why we’re so excited to be a part of it. Whilst it’s an impressive destination, we also have much more space to display our growing collection of handmade shoes whilst offering our truly personal service to customers here in Amsterdam, those who travel to this wonderful city and those clients around the globe. The space also sees us working in collaboration with AtKris Studio, who’ve curated a variety of rare Mid-Century, Italian and Scandinavian designed furniture from the 1950s and 1960s, this gives us an evolving platform in which to showcase our pieces in a manner that’s creative and interesting for both the team and clients alike.

We look forward to welcoming you into the new shop and showing you around. As always, if you have any questions or queries, don’t hesitate to get in touch with us by emailing hello@meetthehand.com
