Worth Knowing
- Loafers: many clients go ½ size down for grip, as long as the length still works.
- Width: a wider fitting adds room in the heel too, which can cause slipping. At this level, many men don't need the wider fitting they wear elsewhere.
- Your reference pair: shoes are often sold slightly large. If yours feel roomy, tell us. It changes our advice.

A Historic Statement, Crafted for the Modern Connoisseur
The Chapal 1914 Vest is more than a garment; it is an artifact of history, a direct descendant of the original jackets crafted for the French airmen of the First World War. Born from necessity and perfected through generations, this piece embodies the soul of the Chapal maison – a legacy of courage, innovation, and unparalleled craftsmanship. For the man who appreciates substance and story, the 1914 Jacket offers a tangible connection to a heroic past.
Artistry in Form and Function
Rendered in an exquisite glossy leather, selected for its deep luster and supple hand, this jacket is built to acquire character with every wear, developing a rich patina that tells a personal story. The design is a masterwork of aviator heritage, featuring a dramatic, enveloping front and a belted waist that creates a powerful, distinguished silhouette.
Every detail is considered and executed with precision. The detachable collar, fashioned from plush, silky sheepskin, provides adaptable warmth and a touch of sartorial luxury. The horn buttons offer a classic, secure closure, reflecting an era when quality was paramount. Lined with fine cotton gabardine, the jacket ensures comfort without compromising its structured form.
An Heirloom of Enduring Style
The 1914 Vest is a statement of refined taste that transcends fleeting fashion. Its commanding presence makes it the centerpiece of any ensemble, pairing with equal authority over fine-gauge knitwear for a sophisticated weekend outing or with rugged trousers for a look that speaks to its adventurous origins.
To own the Chapal 1914 Jacket is to invest in a piece of living history – an heirloom that promises not only enduring style but also a legacy of excellence to be passed down through generations. It is an unparalleled choice for the discerning individual who builds his life and wardrobe on a foundation of quality and significance.
