Color with purpose
Maison Corthay is known for shoes with a clear visual identity: sculpted proportions, nuanced colors and patinas that bring depth to the leather.
This event is an opportunity to explore that creativity with practical guidance. You can compare models, lasts, leathers and finishes, then shape a Made-to-Order specification around your wardrobe rather than color in isolation.
The Hand will help you consider where and how the shoes will be worn. A deep, layered brown can add character to tailoring without becoming formal. A dark blue or burgundy may bring quiet distinction to denim, flannel or evening clothes. Even Maison Corthay’s more expressive finishes can be refined into a versatile, considered pair.
A broad selection of samples is expected to be available. A live patina demonstration is also planned, offering a closer look at how layers of color create depth, movement and individuality in the finished shoe.

Patina is the gradual application and manipulation of color on the surface of the leather. Rather than relying on one flat tone, the artisan builds layers to create depth, variation and a finish that responds differently as the light changes.
During the event, Sonny Mai of Maison Corthay will demonstrate this process live. The demonstration can help you understand what is possible before choosing the direction for your own pair.
