CHAPAL (France)
Founded in 1832, CHAPAL is one of the oldest continuously operating leather houses in France. From its origins in tanning and dyeing, CHAPAL quickly became synonymous with innovation and excellence in leather craftsmanship. The maison rose to international prominence in the early 20th century, when its jackets were adopted by French and American aviators during both World Wars. These pieces were not only protective garments against the cold of open cockpits, but also became enduring style icons of courage and freedom.
Today, CHAPAL remains family-owned and continues to produce every jacket in France, in its own ateliers. Each piece is hand-cut, hand-dyed, and sewn with the same artisanal techniques refined over nearly two centuries. The brand’s signature shearling and vegetable-tanned leathers are renowned for their luxurious touch and longevity, ageing beautifully with the wearer. With limited production and a commitment to authenticity, CHAPAL jackets are not simply outerwear—they are heirlooms that embody a living legacy of heritage, resilience, and timeless elegance.
Thomas Riemer (Vienna)
Thomas Riemer has been shaping the art of glove making in Vienna for more than three decades, building on a tradition that dates back centuries. Known as TR Handschuhe, the atelier is dedicated to the idea that gloves are not just accessories, but refined instruments of style and comfort. Each pair begins with carefully selected hides—lambskin, peccary, or deerskin—sourced for their softness, strength, and natural beauty. Every glove is cut entirely by hand, then stitched using old-world techniques that require patience, precision, and years of practice.
What makes Riemer exceptional is his focus on true bespoke work. During a fitting, each client’s hands are measured in detail, taking into account not only size but also proportion, flexibility, and wear preferences. The result is a glove that fits like a second skin: supple, elegant, and uniquely personal. The atelier produces only in small quantities, maintaining an uncompromising standard of quality. For connoisseurs who value craftsmanship over mass production, Thomas Riemer offers an experience that blends tradition with modern sophistication—a reminder that even the simplest item, in the hands of a master, can become an object of enduring refinement.
